Sumac

Staghorn Sumac is a pioneer plant that is a colonizer of old fields and waste places. Growing to about 12 feet tall, it develops red seedheads that are attractive to birds in the winter. Its fuzzy branches resemble antlers, hence its name. In the fall, the leaves turn brilliant shades of red amd yellow.
